I’ve always been a lover of history – the kind that’s lived around kitchen tables, inside old barns, and in the stories passed down from the people we love. I grew up on a small farm in North Dakota with four older brothers and a childhood that was shaped by wide-open spaces, hard work, and the kind of simple living that people often romanticize about these days.
I was incredibly close to both sets of my grandparents, and so many of my favorite memories come from time spent at their houses – listening to stories, learning traditions, and feeling wrapped up in the kind of love only grandparents can give. My mom came from a large family, so our lives were always filled with cousins, noise, food, card games, and a sense of belonging that shaped who I am today.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized just how rare that kind of upbringing is. The simplicity, the closeness, the sense of family woven into everyday life – those are the stories I want to help preserve and share.
